Aliya Buttar is an undergraduate student completing her fourth year at Arizona State University (ASU). She is an honors student double-majoring in Biology and Society and French and is an intern at the Consortium for Science, Policy, and Outcomes (CSPO) at ASU. As part of her work at CSPO, Buttar does research for the Science Policy Assessment and Research on Climate (SPARC) project. Specifically, she is looking at water use in the Phoenix metropolitan area and in the Colorado River Watershed. This project considers water use in the agricultural, industrial, and municipal sectors as well as the different stressors on these water sources. Ultimately, this research will culminate in the ranking of the different water-stressors and a workshop where different experts will discuss this ranking. Aside from her work at CSPO, Buttar is also a Bioethics fellow and an associate editor for The Triple Helix, an undergraduate journal of science, society, and law.
